MISSION
The College of Medicine is committed to prepare qualified physicians capable to practice medicine and conduct researches that contribute to the development of the profession and the community, dedicated to life-long learning and responsive to the growing socio-economic needs of Bahrain and the region.
Aim of the Doctor of Medicine Program:

The AMAIUB College of Medicine (COM) aims to graduate competent Doctors of Medicine, equipped to practice medicine in a competitive and dynamic modern world, with a foundation in the basic medical and social sciences, and deeply concerned about the welfare of their fellowmen. 

Programme Objectives 

The programme ensures that its graduates are: 
(1) Scientifically literate in the basic medical sciences and clinically competent; and, 
(2) Ready to pursue a career in any clinical specialty or in the biomedical sciences, research, and/or medical education.

Program Intended Learning Outcomes 

Upon completion of the six-year undergraduate medical programme, graduates shall be able to: 

A. Knowledge and Understanding 

A1. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the core basic, psycho-social, epidemiologic and clinical sciences necessary for the practice of medicine; 
A2. Exhibit comprehension and integration of research including evidence-based medicine into these sciences to ensure continuing medical education. 


B. Subject-specific skills 

B1. Apply knowledge learned from basic and clinical sciences for health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. 
B2. Manifest desirable professional conduct and communication skills in data gathering through history taking, physical examination and the use of diagnostic interventions, including logical integration of these tools toward meaningful formulation of diagnoses and management/treatment modalities. 


C. Thinking Skills 

C1. Demonstrate problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills in basic and clinical sciences, including research and evidence-based medicine needed for decision-making in the practice of medicine; 
C2. Exhibit ability to integrate socio-economic and ethical issues along various phases in learning related to the practice of medicine. 


D. General and Transferable Skills (other skills relevant to employability and personal development) 

D1. Manifest autonomy in learning and desirable team-working skills; and, 
D2. Demonstrate ability to access, utilize and rationalize use of available print, electronic and other on-line learning resources to enhance and sustain continued learning. 

The College of Medicine offers an innovative curriculum that provides an excellent program of study which is congruent to the requirements of medical institutions worldwide. The curriculum combines the good points of the traditional teaching and the universally practiced Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method of teaching which is provided by highly competent faculty members who are specialists in their respective fields of medical practice.

The first four years of the 6-year curricular program serves as the training foundation that perfects the theoretical educations of the students. The last two years will be the clinical rotation in a hospital environment where knowledge is applied.

Students, who successfully complete the requirements of the 6-year program of the AMAIUB College of Medicine, shall obtain the BS (Bachelor in Medical Science) and MD (Doctor of Medicine) degrees respectively.

1. To produce medical graduates who have a general fund of knowledge in the discipline of Medicine that shall enable them to deliver health care services efficiently and effectively.
2. To produce medical graduates who can function as primary care health care physicians as well as leaders and decision-makers in the realm of health care delivery.
3. To produce doctors who value lifelong learning, evidence-based practice, research and continuing education in medical science.
4. To produce doctors who are responsive to changing paradigm in medical practice in a culturally diverse environment.
5. To produce doctors who will serve as catalysts in the improvement and delivery of health care services to the community and all segments of society.
