With the aim to advance cooperation in the areas of internships, professional training, joint research, and other academic-related endeavors, AMA International University-Bahrain (AMAIUB) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) with Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) during a ceremony held on February 5, 2018 at the University’s MBA Conference Room.
Dr. Geraldo C. Talisic, Vice President for Academic Affairs signed on behalf of AMAIUB while Mr. Salman Al Mahmeed, Chief Executive Officer, signed on behalf of BAS. The signing was witnessed by honorable guests from BAS, namely: Mr. Khalid Al Bastaki, Senior Manager for Training and Development; Engr. Fahad Isa Al Qadhi, Chief Central Support Officer; and Ms. Maryam Sameer Shakeeb, Corporate Communications Coordinator. AMAIUB officers, headed by Dr. Marie Redina M. Victoria, President; Ms. Buena Gracia A. Canzana, Vice President for Administration and Finance; deans; and programme heads were also present during the ceremony.
The MoU provides a framework of partnership between AMAIUB and BAS in broadening opportunities especially in the fields in which both parties are concerned. Specifically, the MoU encompasses building research capability, sharing of facilities and expertise in related work areas, supporting the research projects of the students, and promoting activities that foster entrepreneurship and SMEs, among others.
Moreover, the MOU further explores knowledge sharing between the two institutions in the form of seminars, workshops , trainings, and lecture series.
During her speech, AMAIUB President Dr. Marie Redina Victoria expressed her heartfelt gratitude to BAS for collaborating with AMAIUB in order to help the students in their transition from the university to the real world of work. She also mentioned that this academic partnership with BAS will surely contribute to the University’s aim of providing relevant, innovative, and quality education that produces leaders who can contribute to the Kingdom’s socio-economic development.
BAS Chief Executive Officer Mr. Salman Al Mahmeed was also pleased for this partnership with AMAIUB, one of the leading universities in the Kingdom. He also noted that AMAIUB students and graduates who are employed in BAS have shown expertise and professionalism in their respective fields of specialization. Hence, he noted that this MoU will facilitate cooperation in areas of mutual interest and would benefit both BAS and AMAIUB.
AMAIUB has several industry partners from both government and private sectors. These partnerships provide avenues for the University to work with expert practitioners especially on issues that are directly relevant to the industry. Hence, having an MoU with BAS is another milestone for AMAIUB especially for its students, who are enrolled in the Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in International Business, Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics, Bachelor of Science in Informatics Engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering programmes, to discover and learn more about the rudiments of the airport industry.
