AMAIUB supports SCE’s environmental initiatives

AMA International University-Bahrain (AMAIUB), through the initiative of the Community Engagement Committee of the College of Arts and Sciences, held an environmental awareness forum on July 16, 2019 at the University auditorium.

Said forum was in line with the directives of the Government Executive Committee, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, and following the Ministerial Committee for Urbanization and Infrastructure’s order number (7-731-2019) regarding the regulation and reduction of plastic usage, taking effect on July 21, 2019.

Miss Layla Ali Sabeel, an environment specialist affiliate of Bahrain’s Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) keynoted the SCE’s program of minimizing the use of non-biodegradable plastic bags in the entire Kingdom. She stressed on the possible impact and risks of continuous utilization of plastic bags, thus challenging the participants to support such initiative.

Dr. Buena Gracia Canzana, the Head of Administration, accepted the challenge on behalf of AMAIUB and led the university officers, faculty members, staff and students through a written commitment to affirm AMAIUB’s support and cooperation to such initiative towards the continuing sustainability of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
