CCS students join Hackathon- Hack @ the Track 2018


AMA International University- Bahrain’s (AMAIUB) College of Computer Studies (CCS) students  was among the  participants of Hackathon,  Hack @ the Track 2018 competition last  March 7-8.

The Hackathon aimed to find solutions that encourage the use of digital payments such that they would be more appealing, secured, accessible, and relevant.

The team composed of AMAIUB  students, namely:  Nourhan Khairy,Najam Ilyas,Muddassar Asif, Mohammed Al Mufti,  and Maher Al Mufti,  used a combination of technologies such as Android Studio, HTML, JavaScript and UXpin to develop their prototype dubbed as  “FingPay”, a verification platform where the users can easily pay using a two-step verification methods which involve  their fingerprint and a PIN code. According to the team, the “FingPay”, in the future, will include not only payment transactions but also face ID verification, ATM deposits, fund transfers, and location-based services and payment among others.

With its “FingPay” presentation, the AMAIUB team was well-appreciated by the organizers, guests,  and participants composed of professional coders, developers, programmers, IT enthusiasts.

The said   event  was organized for the first time by the American Express Middle East in partnership with IBM and powered by AngelHack which took place as a  part of the Unbound Bahrain, MENA’s newest and exciting innovation festival.

The AMAIUB team was supervised and mentored by  Dr. Safeeullah Soomro, Dean of the College of Computer Studies (CCS) along with the other CCS faculty members Dr. Mahdi H. Miraz, Mr. Riyaz Belgaum, Dr. Ruchin Zain, Dr. Anupama Prasanth, and Ms. Zainab Alansari.
