Faculty Development Seminar and Workshop series held


As one of the continuous quality improvement initiatives of AMA International University-Bahrain (AMAIUB) in the area of the teaching-learning, the Faculty Development series of lectures and workshops were conducted on May 2-3 at the University Auditorium.

The first day of the series included the plenary session started off by the discussion of AMAIUB’s Academic Policies delivered by Dr. Geraldo C. Talisic, Vice President for Academic Affairs. This was followed by the reiteration of the other academic policies, specifically on the Programme Development, Review and Enhancement; External Moderation of Examination; and PILO/Course Mapping, among others. Part of the session was the review of the various committee roles and responsibilities, particularly on the Curriculum Review, Research, Faculty Development, Library and Instructional Materials, and Academic Advising.

Concurrent sessions were done on the second day in which lectures and workshops delved on SPSS, Advanced MATLAB, SAP, LATEX, Assessment and Moderation, and Learning Outcomes Formulation and Assessment.

The third day of the series focused on Moodle, Interactive Projector, Course Specification, Lesson Planning, and the CILO Computation Software.

With the conduct of the series of seminar and workshops, the AMAIUB faculty members are deemed to apply the new pedagogies learned and strictly observe the University’s academic policies and procedures.

The said Faculty Development activity was spearheaded by the Faculty Development Office (FDO) which is under the supervision of the office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The FDO is responsible for providing continuous improvement through a diverse range of faculty development programs designed to support teaching and instruction within the context of AMAIUB’s mission, vision, and objectives and implement the accreditation standards and expectations relative to the policies and procedures set by the Higher Education Council and other accreditation bodies in the area of faculty development.
