Mr. Wolfgang Eckart, Senior Expert on Automation and Mechatronics of FESTO Germany , had installed, pre-serviced and tested the new equipment from 21 to 23 June 2011. These are now ready for instructional use.
The Mechatronics equipment include upgraded workstations, which are capable of training students with basic, proportional, and advanced hydraulics and pneumatics; state-of the-art workstations for process automation technology, which involve closed loop processes using proportional, integral and differential controllers that simulate pressure, temperature, flow and level controls; and complete modular production system which features the actual automated manufacturing process.
Currently, AMAIUB offers a four-year degree program in Mechatronics Engineering along with Engineering Informatics. The investment in this state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, which is part of the university's commitment to continuous improvement, would provide better opportunities for students and faculty to enhance their learning experiences in the university.
The presence of these new instructional facilities leads to the optimization of the efforts of students and faculty members to establish a learning culture in which teaching and research of the highest quality flourish equally.
The launching and turning-over ceremonies were attended by university officials, faculty, students, FESTO representatives and various industry partners
College of Engineering is indeed very grateful to the management especially to the Chairman, Dr. Amable R. Aguiluz V, for this initiative.
