ABET (formerly known as Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) Non-US accreditation consultant Dr. Jose B. Cruz, Jr. visited AMA International University-Bahrain (AMAIUB) on September 12-14, 2011. The visit intended to assess AMAIUB’s readiness to pass the accreditation criteria set forth by ABET Computing and Engineering Accreditation Commissions.

After AMAIUB earned the approval of the European Council for Business Education (ECBE) by having its Business Informatics and Master of Business Administration accredited, the University has earmarked ample resources to make certain that its Computer Science and two of its Engineering programs will undertake ABET accreditation in the near future.

Dr. Cruz made a courtesy visit to the offices of Dr. Riyad Y. Hamzah, Secretary General of Higher Education Council and Dr. Jawaher S. Al-Mudhahki, Chief Executive of Quality Assurance Authority for Education and Training to make certain that government inputs and contributions to the quality assurance undertakings of AMAIUB are properly considered. 

Both high-ranking government officials conveyed their full support to the ABET accreditation initiative of AMAIUB and lauded its continuing efforts in upholding the delivery of quality education in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
