Dr. Joel Berras Beleno, recently installed dean of the College of Medicine, served as speaker—on “Writing Test Questions”—as well as facilitator in the recently concluded 2-day (March 31-April 1, 2012) Physiology Teaching Conference and Workshop organized by the International Union of Physiological Sciences at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU), Manama, Bahrain. 

Other speakers in the conference included respected, internationally-renowned educators in the field of medical physiology, such as Prof. Penny Hansen from the Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada; Prof. Robert Carroll of the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University; and Dr. Dee Silverthorn of the University of Texas, Austin, USA--all previous recipients of the American Physiology Society Arthur C. Guyton Physiology Teacher of the Year Award.

CoM associate dean Dr. Tomas Sepulveda, Jr. and two other CoM faculty, Dr. Nilda Manansala and Dr. Manal Othman, actively participated in the conference, which was attended by around a hundred delegates from 21 countries. Faculty participation in the conference was facilitated by Dr. Feisal Subhan of AGU's Physiology Department.
